Sharp LC40LE830U Quattron 40-inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV

“Overall, once this TV is setup correctly and all calibration and adjustments are made, it is by far one of the best TVs out there in terms of picture quality, clarify and accuracy. The out of box setting is acceptable but will feel like you are at a big box electronics store. There are a few calibration settings out in various forums so just search for them, try them all and choose your pick…”

“We use this television in the bedroom and we are not highly knowledgeable about television features, but we find this to be an excellent television at an awesome price. We connected it to our wirless internet to watch netflix, and that works great too. I would buy another television just like it if we needed a tv for an additional room. My only complaint is that the buttons on the remote do not glow in the dark (a bit of a problem when watching tv in the bedroom at night)”

“Great TV. Fantastic picture and very simple and straight forward to set-up and operate. Not too heavy and a very slim design. Great value for money – I cannot recommend this TV enough. ”

“I bought this a few weeks ago and it is absolutely amazing!! Its actually a little disturbing how realistic the picture quality is. I have no complaints about this TV. You can’t beat the price for an LCD TV. The auto motion technology makes everything so life like. And even if you have just a basic DVD player this TV makes the DVD’s look great!! ”

Sony BRAVIA KDL40BX420 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

“This is an excellent 1080p HDTV for <$500. Admittedly, the build quality is only so-so, and there are just a handful of inputs -- but for a second, bedroom HDTV, this is a great value. The case plastics may be on the low-end, but the display itself is top-notch. And the on-screen menus are straightforward and more than adequate. For my purposes, I'm delighted with the purchase.... “Picked this TV up a few weeks back for the family room. The picture is beautiful. Remote is easy to use to access for customizing the TV’s various features and settings. I don’t know why there are so many complaints about the sound–the 40 inch works just fine in my 15′ by 12′ room (and much better than the sound from a relatively new 22 inch Phillips HDTV in my bedroom). ”

TCL L40FHDF12TA 40-Inch 1080p 60hz LCD HDTV

“I bought this set based on reviews of both it and the earlier model (and the fact it was just over $400). By the time I placed the order it had dropped to $399 and the next morning it was $20 less. Amazon refunded the $20 without a hassle and if it goes lower in the next week and a half, well my bad for not waiting to claim the lower price guarantee. I really don’t care because this is a great TV even at the higher price. I had it up and running less than an hour after the UPS guy knocked at the door and it would have been even less if I had someone to help hold the set while I screwed in the base. The time includes the entire channel scan (I have it hooked to cable without a box). The picture on the HD channels is great and the same goes for the picture from my DVD upconverting player.

I’m hooking up a Blu-Ray soon and I expect it to be even better, I’ll update if I’m disappointed. I haven’t hooked up my laptop yet but again, if I’m not happy I’ll post the results. I’ve seen complaints about the sound but because I immediately connected it to a surround system I can’t speak to that. I’m not a major gamer but I could go nuts with Tiger Woods on this set. I was originally looking for a 32″ TV – I’m glad I shopped the larger ones because I would have saved only $12 on the 32″ set I was about to buy. Great deal plus it has a 2 year warranty.”

“I picked up the newer 40″ TV for $379.99, was looking for a nice, but inexpensive TV for my daughter, she just bought her 1st home and was wanting a TV to match her new place. So, for a house warming gift I picked up a wall mount and this TV, was worried it might not be good quality product, but with all the 1000+ reviews on the last model equaling 4+ stars, I decided to take the chance. It’s been in for a day now and is working great…”
